Learning Observed
|
Today Sanish was reading, “I can Read”. Without pointing he read the titles and then said, “I can read to my mum”. There was no word “my” in the text. He then read the next two pages and inserted the word “my” in where there was no word “my”. He read the next page. This time there was a word my! The next page he looked at the picture, but needed help. I told him “to my teacher”. He then looked at the next page and read “I can read to my friend”. Then asked for confirmation that he had got it correct. He had. Sanish then read the last page.

Evidence of learning
|
Sanish was able to decode words by looking at the picture. I wonder if he does this at home?
|
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
|
Sanish scored 3/24 on the Duncan Basic Word Assessment. He is developing his Capabilities in using picture cues to decode words. Sanish is still learning to match his finger to each word he says (Thinking). He is starting to decode more and more words (Using Language, Symbols and Text).

Learning Observed

Today we were practising counting to 16. We first started by counting together. Next the Learner had to get 16 objects from the box. They then had to count them back into the box.
Sanish counted 1 to 14 correctly then said 16, 17.
Next we rolled a 20 sided die and the Learners had to say the numeral that appeared on it.
Sanish was able to read number 19 and 12, but said 5 and 1 for 15.
